Hello from a sunny Cape Town
How does transformation coaching work? I am writing to you this month about the power of inner exploration, of really meeting your-self and illuminating your deeper purpose and to your radiant well-being. This journey is best taken with a guide who is able to create a safe and compassionate space for you to reflect, and explore. A coach can give you the navigation tools to transform your habits and beliefs and awareness to shed some of those old beliefs and habits that are no longer working for you.
I find comfort and reassurance in the below quote by T.S. Elliot, it reminds me that this journey of inner exploration, reflecting and shedding is one that we are all faced with at some stage in our life, and sometimes more than once.
“We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
Through the unknown, remembered gate
When the last of earth left to discover
Is that which was the beginning;
At the source of the longest river
The voice of the hidden waterfall
And the children in the apple-tree
Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.
—T.S. Eliot, from “Little Gidding,” Four Quartets (Gardners Books; Main edition, April 30, 2001) Originally published 1943.”
How can a coach help you? The word ‘help’ is misleading and suggests that the coach knows something, or a way forward, and you don’t. As a holistic well-being coach my role is to ask the questions and create opportunities for self-enquiry to awaken you to your full potential, which already exists within you.
As T.S. Elliot articulates so beautifully; ‘the end of our exploring will be to arrive where we started, and know the place for the first time …”
Because explore we will, simply moving through and ordinary day is a way of moving forward – but when we choose our destination (and choose our steps there) with clear intentionality; magical transformations happen within ourselves, and this in turn creates positive shifts within your relationships, and with the world around you.
During a coaching session you are encouraged to explore your inner landscape, to identify and voice your most secret and innermost desires and vision for yourself. It is beautiful to witness how this exploration of oneself within a coaching relationship becomes an awakening of your true potential and power, and the knowing how to move forward from that place of true self-belief and trust towards our best holistic-well-being.
Within the coaching relationship my role is to be 100% behind you to encourage, uncover and support your journey to who you already are – but perhaps have been lost under layers of conditioning, old habits, and past traumas.
Coaching is a powerful and often underestimated modality, it examines your holistic well-being, by identifying, then implementing with accountability a course correction. Coaching also helps you identify what is not working, and which (sometimes incrementally small) steps you need to take for positive change. What makes coaching work (every time) is the accountability your coach creates, moving you forward with each session.
